Hanover, 16 February 2021.Due to the current developments surrounding the Corona pandemic, Deutsche Messe is postponing micromobility expo by one year to May 19-21, 2022. The current conditions do not allow for reliable planning for exhibitors and visitors at the trade fair.

"As a combination of conference, exhibition and test track, micromobility expo thrives strongly on the experience elements, which can only be reproduced digitally to a very limited extent. That's why we decided to postpone it," said project manager Florian Eisenbach of Deutsche Messe AG in Hanover on Tuesday. With the date in May 2022, the event aims to build on the success of the premiere of micromobility expo in May 2019 with 3,000 visitors and the digital version in 2020 with 1,000 visitors.

Across Germany, cities are facing major challenges with regard to mobility. The demands on environmental protection are constantly increasing - less noise and lower CO2 emissions are required. At the same time, there is a need to expand the transport infrastructure in urban areas.

Both in the large metropolises and in the smaller cities, committed discussions are being held about more or fewer cars in the inner cities, about more or less parking space. Against this backdrop, there is high potential in the future for the use of multifaceted micromobility offerings, from micromobility to mobility services to mobility infrastructures. "With micromobility expo, we are creating the platform for the transport turnaround in cities, where the necessary discussions can be held, but also where advances in services and technology can be experienced and procured," Eisenbach said.
